Father & Wilmington Resident

A Native of Warrenton, Virginia, Scott first became a North Carolinian when transferred by the Marine Corps to Camp Lejeune in 2008. After falling in love with the city, Scott and his wife moved from Sneads Ferry to Wilmington in 2010 to plant their roots and have a family. They live in the Pine Valley area of Wilmington.

Scott’s wife, Katie, is a Nurse Practitioner at Wilmington Health Cardiology. She has served patients in the region as a Nurse and Nurse Practitioner at NHRMC and Wilmington Health for over a decade. They have three amazing young children. Their eldest is proud to be enrolled at the International School at Gregory.

Public Service & Leadership

Military Veteran

Scott earned his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in 2006. As a Logistics Officer, he served in a variety of roles including as a Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer. He deployed to Marja, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 10.1.

Currently a Major in the Marine Corps Reserve, Scott has served as an Operations Officer, Company Commander and Battalion Executive Officer. He is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School and Command & Staff College distance education programs.

Community Service

Firefighter & Volunteer

Son of a Fire Fighter and a volunteer Fire Fighter since age 16, Scott earned a position as a professional Fire Fighter with Wilmington Fire Department in 2011. For the next seven years, Scott would serve the city of Wilmington as an EMT, Fire Fighter, and member of the Technical Rescue Team. He was a founding member of city’s first Heavy Rescue Company based at the Empie Park fire station. He was promoted to Master Fire Fighter in 2017.

In 2019 Scott was appointed to Wilmington’s Downtown Parking Advisory Committee.


Corporate Leader

In late 2017, Scott made the difficult decision to leave WFD to help run a start-up technology company with his long-time friend from the Marine Corps. Scott is currently the Senior Vice President of Business Development for ITSA Solutions. ITSA (Barnacle Parking) provides an innovative parking technology for operators and municipalities across the globe.
